Dance has brought three performers together, one Catalan, one South African and one Belgian in an international project, a south to north conversation in which three performers with distant roots but much in common share their visions through this art.
Roberto Olivan and Gregory Maqoma met at the performing Arts Research and Training Studios (PARTS) in Brussels, where they studied under Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, a veritable legend in contemporary dance. The two then went their different ways to continue their respective careers. However, both have always maintained close links with their homelands, Olivan establishing the Deltebre Dansa Festival and Maqoma becoming involved with the Johannesburg dance community and founding South African Vuyani Dance Theater. Now, their paths cross once more, closing a circle.
L.Delforge joined in as the fourth collaboration with his fellow choreographer Olivan. The whole music is performed live and in direct conversation with the dancers. Standing behind them, watching them and designing, in real-time, the sound score of their encounter.

About The Music :

You will see Olivan and Maqoma on stage, performing a choreographic dialogue to the accompaniment of a soundtrack by the Belgian composer Laurent Delforge. In Lonely Together, a piece that sums up their very essence, the two artists follow their own intuition, that inner voice which has been present for generations and which, in many cultures, has helped to shape the most transcendental aspects of Humanity through ceremonies and rites of passage. To listen to this voice means giving free rein to the emotions, the thoughts and the judgements that we all carry within us.
